What to Check When Choosing Steel AEG Gears

Steel is a common material choice for AEG gears, but “steel” alone does not make a gear set suitable for a build. Alloy grade, heat treatment, tooth geometry, machining, shaft fit and installation determine how the parts work together.
A complete AEG gear set contains interacting parts; material is only one selection factor.
Check the product and the gearbox
- Confirm the ratio and sector-gear design required by the build.
- Verify gearbox format, shaft diameter and bushing or bearing arrangement.
- Inspect tooth contact, shaft runout and clearances before powered testing.
- Set shimming and motor height for the actual shell and pinion.
A ratio label and sector design identify the product; they do not guarantee a result in every build.
Do not assume a steel gear set automatically supports a particular spring, motor speed or battery. Those claims require the complete build and test conditions. If the fit is confirmed, browse JVAN airsoft gear sets.
